Jenny Hutton is an Assistant Professor in Choral Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she leads the university's auditioned treble choir and teaches graduate and undergraduate music education courses. For over two decades, Jenny taught musicians of all ages in public school, independent school, and community choral settings. Jenny discovered Estill at a 2012 workshop with Kim Steinhauer, completed Level 1 and 2 trainings, earned the EFP certificate in 2019, and became an Estill Master Trainer in 2020. In her research, Jenny explores culturally responsive vocal pedagogy, connection during group singing, and students’ experiences learning vocal technique for varied styles. In addition to her work as an educator, Jenny has performed rock, musical theatre, and opera, and she has held choral singing positions with the Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral, Christ Church Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Singers, performing multiple times with the Philadelphia Orchestra. Jenny earned a PhD in Music Education at Temple University and holds degrees in Choral Conducting, Psychology, and Women’s and Gender Studies.
