Australian born singer, Susan Garrett has been teaching singing for over 25 years and became and Estill Master Trainer in July 2018.  She currently uses Estill in her private teaching and also runs regular Estill introductory courses.  She enjoys teaching a variety of pupils from beginners to more advanced pupils. She holds a Degree in Music from Goldsmiths College, London, CT ABRSM teaching Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma in Voice from Trinity College of Music, where she also won the Lieder Prize.  She was classically trained and performed in the UK in various Opera companies in the South East.  She now runs a busy teaching studio, from her home studio in Beckenham. She also teaches in a private school and runs a vocal academy for school aged pupils who perform regular concerts. She also has experience running choirs and leading vocal workshops in various settings.Whilst at college she performed for various charities including Music in Hospitals and Live Music Now, which sparked an interest and passion for working in a more therapeutic way.She worked for the Alzheimer’s Society in Catford and Croydon and her company Vocal Vitality has now created Singing for Seniors which is a program of workshops and training, using music with people with dementia, as well as training care staff so that they can bring the benefits of regular singing to those with dementia on a more regular basis.She has also incorporated her Estill knowledge and understanding into the regular sessions she runs for those with Parkinson’s to help them become more aware of how to use their voices.  This work helps boost their confidence, they can engage in more effective communication with others, increase volume and general overall awareness of vocal technique, as well has having great fun together!
