He has taught and choreographed for professionals and amateurs around the world and was artistic director with the Internationaal Danstheater. He works with the voice as a performance coach with bands and individual performers and with all his dancers in a wide range of styles. He works as a conductor and choir leader with (choral) music since 1983, specializing in ethnic singing styles and repertoire. In 2005 he attended his first courses with Helga Westmark and Dorte Hyldstrup and Kerrie Obert. Hooked and addicted to the clarity and efficiency of the Estill model he continued his studies to become a CMT in 2009. His specialty lies in working with choirs and coaching performers within the vast array of vocal traditions of world-music. Whether yodelling, overtone-singing, Bulgarian , Georgian, Jan has studied and collected a vast repertoire of songs learning from established specialists and scholars each masters in their own field. He is eager to share these treasures with whoever is interested. The Estill tools provide therein a fantastic handle on all these different colours that are the very make up of the singing voice.
