Alison Guill has over 15 years’ teaching experience alongside a successful career as a singer across the genres of musical theatre and opera. In 2015 she completed the Estill CMT pathway under the guidance of Anne-Marie Speed. Alison is on the staff at Mountview as a technical singing teacher and has also taught both Acting through Song and technical classes for many years at the Urdang Academy.
Originally from the USA, Alison trained at the Royal Academy of Music where she graduated with First Class Honours for classical singing and then Distinction for the postgraduate Musical Theatre course. In her professional career she has appeared many times on the operatic stage working with Holland Park and Opera North at the Barbican, and undertaking the major soprano roles of Fiordiligi in Cosi fan Tutte and Violetta in La Traviata for Opera UK.
Highly experienced in musical theatre, she has toured the UK with Scrooge and The Sound of Music, and performed in London at the Royal Albert Hall in Raymond Gubbay’s Showboat and Her Majesty’s Theatre in Phantom of the Opera where she covered and played Carlotta over 60 times. Alison was part of the cast of the British Premiere of Light in the Piazza at Leicester Curve and this resulted in an invitation to return to the venue to understudy Anna in the King & I. She has travelled as far as Dubai to perform as the Baroness in the Madinat Jumeirah’s sell-out production of The Sound of Music.
A self-confessed voice geek, Alison likes to encourage singers of all styles and abilities to condition their voices, practice mindfully, and make some noise!
She is available for private lessons at her home studio in Finchley Central. Please contact her on 07595 040280.
