Trainer Profile

Kerrie Beechler Obert, MA-CCC/SLP, is a speech language pathologist in Columbus, Ohio with 20 years' experience in the diagnosis and management of voice disorders.  Ms. Obert has conducted over 15,000 laryngeal examinations. She is actively involved in several on-going research projects with a team of nationally recognized experts in the field of voice pathology. A graduate of Mars Hill College (NC) and The Ohio State University, Ms. Obert‘s research interests are geared toward the professional voice community. Ms. Obert holds degrees in speech pathology and music and she has extensive performance training in a variety of styles and techniques. She has published articles on voice quality and has co-authored four books on voice including the Level One and Level Two Workbooks for Estill Voice International.  She wrote an anatomy book, Geography of the Voice, with Steven R. Chicurel, DMA in 2003. This book continues to be a valuable and widely used resource in the Estill community.  She additionally co-authored a text for Oxford University Press in 2013. That book, The Owner's to the Voice, has been a "best seller" for the publisher.   Ms. Obert has been very active in the Estill community as a board member and lecturer. She was the conference chair for the Estill World Voice Symposium in 2003 and again in 2005. Her first introduction to Estill Voice Training was in 1987. This interaction with Jo left her proclaiming that she "wanted to have Jo‘s job." Immediately following her graduation from Mars Hill College, Ms. Obert moved to New York City where she spent a year working with Ms. Estill on several research projects. This relationship continued over the next 17 years with numerous workshops, research projects, and personal development. She received a Vanguard License from Jo Estill in 1996 and is currently a instructor with service distinction and advanced testing privileges. Ms. Obert has been actively involved in the development of the current certification protocols and she is available to certify/exam candidates for all levels of certification.
