Overview:

The majority of women do not receive enough information about the menopause and too many GPs are simply not well enough informed to offer meaningful recommendations. The menopause presents many challenges but possibly the most overlooked is the effect on the voice. Much of the advice offered is both inaccurate and unhelpful. This day will look at the impact the menopause can have on the voice and strategies to manage it.  From there, we will look at ageing voices in men and women from 40-80 and beyond.

The day will include:

·     What happens to our voices as we get older and why?

·     Are vocal changes inevitable?

·     What happens during the menopause?

·     Managing the voice during pre-, peri- and post menopause

·     Practical advice on maintaining optimal vocal performance as we get older

·     Choral singing and the ageing voice

·     Short masterclass

Suitable for:  Women experiencing the menopause and men and women working with menopausal and ageing voices; knowledge of the Estill Model not required; open to all.
