EMT Spotlight: Trish Delaney-Brown

This trainer spotlight features Trish Delaney-Brown, an Estill Master Trainer based in Australia. Trish is head Head of Vocals at Wollongong Conservatorium and is also a singer/songwriter.

Current home (city, country): Wollongong, NSW Australia

Where did you grow up?: My Dad was in the Airforce when I was younger so we moved around quite a bit with time spent in Canberra, the Blue Mountains and Newcastle areas amongst others.

Why you do you love Estill Voice Training?: Discovering how the voice works to be able to work with it rather than against it! Having vocal options. Being able to offer clients and students specific answers to their specific problems. But most of all watching students have their ‘aha’ moments and the world of vocal possibilities that EVT opens for them.

Biggest professional challenge: With teaching – not trying to cram everything into the first lesson (I can get a wee bit excited). With performing – not letting the inner critic have the last word.

Last book read: The Passage Trilogy by Justin Cronin.

Person you would most like to have dinner with: Dolly Parton

Favorite performer: James Taylor – 72 years old and still writing, performing and authentically connecting (he spent the entire set break of the last show I went to sitting on the edge of the stage chatting with fans).

What has the COVID-19 pandemic been like for you?: It’s been a time of reassessment and practicing patience and gratitude.

Hobby(ies): Reading, horse riding, being in nature and movies.

Favorite quote: “The world calls them its singers and poets and artists and storytellers; but they are just people who have never forgotten the way to fairyland.”― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

People would be surprised to know… Like a lot of performers I’m actually an introvert – I love alone time!
