Matthew is a voice consultant working with both the singing and spoken voice. He works professionally as a musical director, arranger and composer.Recent musical direction credits include: Sweet Charity (The MAC, Belfast), Our House (Bernie Grant Arts Centre), Billy Elliot Regional Showcase, Dick Whittington, Cinderella (Milton Keynes Theatre), Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens (The Black Box, Belfast), Company, Hair (The Karamel Club), Dying For It, Marat/Sade (The Pleasance Islington), Emma, The Fix (The Albany), and The American Clock (Jacksons Lane and The New Players). Other musical direction, orchestration and composing credits include: Aladdin (The Landor), One Man (Pentameter), Stepping Out, The Visit, Sweet Charity, Assassins, Cabaret, Henry V, The School for Scandal, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Burston School Strike, The Wizard of Oz, The Oresteia Trilogy, The Jungle Book, West Side Story and Flora the Red Menace. Vocal coaching credits include: Spring Awakening (National Tour), Protection (The Theatre Museum), Breezeblock Park (Albany Theatre), Godspell (Battersea Arts Centre), Carousel, Nunsense (Bridewell Theatre), A Little Night Music (Chelsea Theatre), Sweet Charity (Shaw Theatre), Children of Eden, Jesus Christ Superstar (St Paul's Church), The Hot Mikado (Hoxton Hall), The Goodbye Girl, Merrily We Roll Along (Cochrane Theatre), and The Pirates of Penzance (The Pleasance Islington). Directing credits include: Yerma, The Caucasian Chalk Circle, A Little Night Music, Nine and Sweet Charity. Recordings: Elegies for Angels, Punks and Raging Queens (Northern Irish Cast). Matthew is musical director and arranger for Olivier Award winner Leanne Jones’ cabaret Have You Met Miss Jones? He read music as an undergraduate and postgraduate at King’s College London. 

Matthew has taught extensively in the Further and Higher Education sector and in many professional drama training academies. He consults for various performing arts institutions and speech and language therapy groups across the United Kingdom.

Matthew has taught courses and presented on the voice and singing in the United Kingdom, Europe and America. He has a special interest in phonetics, vocal function and pedagogy, and maintains a successful private studio. His students work across the performing industry and have appeared as principals in West End shows including Billy Elliot, Shrek - the Musical, Priscilla – Queen of the Desert, Sunset Boulevard, Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera, Starlight Express, Fame, Hairspray, Wicked and We Will Rock You.

Matthew was personally granted his Masters Licensure by Jo Estill in 2003. The principles of Estill Voice Training lie at the heart of his teaching. From 2007-2011 Matthew was an active member of the Estill Voice International Certification Advisory Board and International Symposium Committees. With Klaus Møller, he has been at the forefront of certifying new Estill teachers in Europe, with the Reeve & Møller Certification Pathway™.

Matthew is a Director of Voicesource Limited, a retail and publishing company that distributes vocal products and specialist voice texts.
