This Advanced 1 course is only for people who have attended Level One & Two courses.

The course will focus on repetition and more advanced exercises of Level One & Two, some variations of qualities and analysis of problems & solutions/Pedagogical issues.

We will mostly work practically and integrate figures and qualities into music and also have time to focus on individual coaching/training.

This course is presented by Helga Westmark, who was one of the first Certified Course Instructors in Europe – so-called Vanguards. Description:
Open to anyone with an interest in learning about the voice, e.g. singers, voiceteachers, actors, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with an introduction to the Estill Voice Model with Compulsory Figures for Voice, and an overview of this course. We will work us through all the basic Figures in Level One and end up with a short overview of the Six Voice Qualities of Level Two. We will practice together and individually in small groups, integrating new skills into singing and applying them to different genres of music. The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

The Complete Estill Course
Estill Training is craft for singers, like fingering for the pianist.

Practice independent voice motor control. Understand advanced anatomy and how the voice physically and acoustically functions. Control the components that change voice quality through kinesthetic perception and muscle training.

Emphasis on aesthetic freedom and vocal safety across all styles and genres – from rock to opera, jazz to belting!

Level 1 – Compulsory Figures
In Level One, participants will accomplish an advanced understanding of vocal anatomy and the physiology of the larynx. The students will be able to increase their kinesthetic perception and maximize their control over their “reed”-instrument. The scientifically researched figures or muscle training exercises allow the voice user to individually monitor, control and adjust all researched muscular structures involved in sound production and therefore safely produce any style or genre specific voice quality.
Each participant will receive individual feedback and monitoring to ensure that all concepts are understood and applied correctly. From the start, the emphasis will be on singing and speaking, both individually and as a group to reinforce technical ideas and ensure correct training of muscle memory.

Level 2 – Figure Combinations
During Level Two, participants will analyze and develop mastery of 6 archetype vocal qualities including Speech, Falsetto, Twang (nasal and oral), Sob, Opera and Belting. Additionally, contemporary, classical, and music theatre voice qualities will be studied in order to create a better understanding of how the work can be applied on stage, in the studio and in rehearsals. The client will be supplied with a toolbox of muscular skills, anatomically correct vocabulary and the confidence that anyone can train the muscles of their voice in order to achieve any aesthetic goal. 
Finally, students will be able to participate in a master class in order to apply the tools learnt in a group/performance environment. Singers may present pieces of their own choosing, ideally with problems to be solved. There is no pre-requisite nor audition for this course.

 APPLIED - Estill Voice Print and Vocal Pedagogy Workshop

VOICEPRINT WORKSHOP (Sun. 9am-12pm)

Practise the Estill Figures on a spectrogram (Estill VoiceprintTM) and learn how to use the software as a biofeedback tool. Prepare for the Estill Certificate of Figure Proficiency and create your personal voice training plan.

PEDAGOGY WORKSHOP (Sun. 2pm-5pm)

Advanced problem solving and attractor state analysis. Warm up, cool down and preventive voice training. Analyse advanced voice qualities across all genres.

Este curso de 20 sesiones en el modelo Estill empieza con talleres en anatomía, fisiología y acústica y sigue con la presentación de las Figuras Obligatorias de Control de la Voz descritas por Jo Estill. Se dirige especialmente a esos profesionales de la voz que se especializan en performance aunque está abierto a cualquier persona que quiera entender y disfrutar más de su voz. Los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de practicar las figuras y aplicarlas a su estilo de actuar sea Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Ópera o la voz hablada. Habrá además la posibilidad de practicar las figuras en grupo con canto en harmonÍa.

This course of 20 sessions in the Estill Voice Model begins with workshops in anatomy, physiology and acoustics and continues by covering Jo Estill’s Compulsory figures for Vocal Control. On this occasion, it is aimed particularly at voice professionals in the performing arena although it is open to all those who wish to learn more about and have fun with their voice. Students will have the opportunity to put each of the figures into practice and to apply the work to their own performance be it Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Opera or the spoken voice. There will also be a chance to practise the model in group singing using harmonic music and chants.
