Estill Voice Training Level I - Compulsory Figures for Voice Control

In Level I you learn the 13 anatomical elements that Jo Estill observed, and their relationship to the sound and power of your voice. You learn to voluntarily and independently control these elements and their practical application for such things as:

•  Four ways to make your voice more powerful without strain
•  How to sing higher more easily
•  How the cricoid cartilage helps you belt with no strain and greater range
•  Three ways to start your sound and how they influence your tone.
•  How the false folds help protect your voice from hoarseness
•  How the adam's apple (thyroid cartilage) can help you make a clearer tone
•  Three things that will make your voice sound deeper and richer
•  How to smooth out your break or “passagio”

Estill Voice Training Level II - Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities.

Level II works with six voice qualities and explores their use in Folk Music, Jazz, Pop, Early Music,  Musical Theater Opera, country music, gospel, Rhythm & Blues , Ethnic and Choral singing.  Understanding how the figures effect your sound  and power also allows you greater breadth of dynamic expression, and character development.

The workshop involves Powerpoint presentations, endoscopic videos, anatomical models and slides. There are application activities and small group practices. There is a chance for individual attention in a master class format at the end of the instruction day.   The workbooks provide a complete summary of the Estill Vocal Training model. You will also learn how to read a spectragram and how it can be used to provide you with continuing feedback on how well you are executing the Voice Qualities.

This course concentrates on the singing voice, but is applicable for actors, speech pathologists, and anyone interested in minimizing vocal strain and maximizing projection.

Level One sessions will meet on January 14-16; Level Two sessions will be held on January 21 & 22.

This Advanced 2 course is only for people who have attended Advanced 1 courses with us in Sweden /Dansforum or Stockholm/Kulturama.
Day 1: Focus on advanced qualities (Belting, Opera) + variations of all Estill qualities and  we will work on Artistry & diction. Bring different songs to work with.
 

Wanna learn to Belt, wanna be taught how it works? This is a one day workshop where you will be taught how to learn to belt. What to do and what not to do. The benefits , the dangers and how to build strength, power and quality. ALberto ter Doest is teaching most of the big musical stars in The Netherlands and is a specialist in how to sing a healthy strong Belt voice. In this day you will sing many excersises, really develop your voice and find it's own unique belt sound. we will finish with a great belt song.

Altijd al willen leren belten? wil je weten hoe het werkt? in deze eendags workshop zal ik je leren hoe je kan belten. wat moet je wel doen en wat niet. Wat zijn de voordelen, de gevaren en hoe bouw je aan kracht en power. ALberto ter Doest werkt met talloze musical sterren die dag in dag uit op het toneel staan, Miss Saigon, Wicked, the Producers en vele andere shows. Hij is een expert op het gebied van Belting, en u zult versteld staan wat u in 1 dag kan leren. We zullen verschillende oefeningen doen, ontwikkelen uw techniek en zullen op zoek gaan naar uw unieke Belt stem. Aan het eind zullen we met een stevig Belt stuk eindigen.

O Curso começará com a revisão sumária do método EVTS, relembrando as 13 Figuras de Controlo Vocal abordadas no curso de Nível 1. Segue-se a apresentação das Qualidades Vocais treinadas no Nível 2: Fala, Falsete, Sob, Twang, Ópera e Belting.
A componente prática será dada em pequenos grupos sob a supervisão de instrutores experientes, o que permitirá aos participantes desenvolver o domínio das várias Qualidades Vocais.
Os participantes terão ainda a oportunidade de, um a um, pôr em prática os conteúdos abordados em peças de canto ou fala de forma orientada em sessões de Masterclass. Será ainda prática corrente no curso a análise das diferentes Qualidades Vocais treinadas através de análise acústica do espectrograma, bem como o treino de percepção auditiva dos diferentes efeitos vocais através da observação de CD’s e vídeos.”
 

Estill Voice Training es una aproximación sistemática a la enseñanza de la voz, para mejorar el rendimiento de la voz profesional cantada y hablada.Ofrece a los participantes las herramientas para descubrir la belleza en todas las voces mediante la producción de sonidos a través de 13 Figuras Obligatorias (Nivel 1) y 6 Calidades de la Voz (Nivel 2), que aíslan las estructuras independientes en el mecanismo vocal. Esto permite al intérprete escoger qué “ingredientes” combinan mejor en la receta de cualquier sonido concreto que desee hacer, de forma segura y saludable. El curso combina sesiones de teoría con la práctica en grupos pequeños.Hay la oportunidad de aplicar el trabajo a canciones y textos en sesiones Master Class.                          

 Dirigido a: cantantes, actores, periodistas, foniatras, logopedas y, en general, profesionales de la voz .

Nivel 1  - Objetivos específicos:                                       

•  Conocer las diferentes maneras de utilizar la voz sin forzarla.    
•  Mejorar la calidad vocal al aplicar las Figuras Obligatorias.
•  Ofrecer a artistas, profesionales de la voz y terapeutas la posibilidad de encontrar nuevos “colores vocales”.             
•  Reducir la ansiedad ante el uso vocal profesional y la voz.        

This is a practical course where you experience creating the six voice qualities associated with Estill Voice Training: speech, falsetto, sob, twang, opera and belt. Discussion focuses on how to mix these qualities safely and how to apply them artistically in different genres. Presentations will be combined with small group practice sessions and master classes. As well as teachers and students of performance, this course will also be of interest to speech and language therapists with voice clients. Level Two is only for those who have already completed Level One.

This Level 2 Course will include a brief Level One Review* (Friday Night) as well as cover The Six Basic Esill Voice Qualities: Speech, Falsetto, Twang, Sob, Opera and Belt. The format will include lecture/presentation, discussion, group practice, open coaching and more.

Description
Open to anyone with an interest in learning about the voice, f.ex. singers, voiceteachers, actors, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with an introduction to the Estill Voice Model with Compulsory Figures for Voice, and an overview of this course. We will work us through all the figures in Level One by practising individually in small groups and integrating them into singing and different genres of music.
The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

This course is intended for teachers and students of singing and actors.  The Level One course teaches the tools to control vocal instrument. Students will learn EVT’s Figures to use better vocal structures are useful to sing every musical genre or to play every character. The Level Two course teaches how EVT’s Figures can be used to mix the "recipes" for 6 voice qualities:  Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera, and Belting.
