Description

This Advanced 1 course is only for people who have attended Level One & Two courses in Norway or Sweden. The course will focus on repetition and more advanced exercises of Level One & Two and analysis of problems & solutions/Pedagogical issues. We will mostly work practically and integrate figures and qualities into music and also have time to focus on individual coaching/training.

Beyond images, learn specific vocal techniques for the choral rehearsal using simple, unambiguous anatomical terms

• Vocal “Figures” that work for training voice like compulsory figures do for skaters
• “Anchoring” for focusing the right amount of energy without constriction (a little air can go a long way!)
• Strategies for balancing different register qualities between vocal parts
• Vocal recipes for broadening your range of vocal color for different musical genres
• Healthy exercises for choral students who also sing musical theater, pop, opera or other musical styles

 This workshop is open to SINGERS, ACTORS, PERFORMERS, TEACHERS… ALL VOICE USERS. No previous Estill experience required. However you speak, however you sing, Estill Voice Training has something to offer you. We welcome all singing styles: folk, pop/rock, classical, blues, gospel, Broadway, opera, jazz, R&B… Bring it on! Our focus will be a clearer understanding of how the voice works and exploration of the artistic possibilities (aesthetically unbiased) presented by Estill Voice Training - where vocal versatility and vitality are paramount.

The workshop will conclude in an “Open Session” during which individuals can receive coaching from the workshop leaders to discover how even a few Estill Voice Training exercises and options can make a striking difference in how the voice sounds and feels. Solutions to common vocal problems are our specialty! Bring a spoken or sung selection along with you.

This Advanced 1 course is mostly for people who have attended Level One & Two courses at Cantina Vocaal in Amsterdam. The course will focus on repetition and more advanced exercises of Level One & Two and analysis of problems & solutions/Pedagogical issues. We will mostly work practically and integrate figures and qualities into music and also have time to focus on individual coaching/training.

In this course you will learn to differentiate and control the various vocal structures, or Figures, associated with pitch, range, color, intensity and, most importantly, sustained vocal health. The 6 Estill Voice Qualities -- Speech, Falsetto, Twang, Sob, Opera and Belt -- will also be utilized throughout the weekend so that each new Figure will not only be explored individually, but in the expanded context of each Quality. The result: a blend of part and whole, Figure and Quality, that will send you on your way to vocal mastery!

EVT is applicable to ALL styles of speaking and singing and this course is open to anyone interested in the wonders of the human voice including singers, actors, speech language pathologists and voice teachers. Participants will apply their new skills in group practice sessions as well as in individual coaching sessions. (Be sure to bring music and/or text!) There will also be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

Level One: Figures for Voice™ teaches the tools of the craft to add strength, clarity and stamina to your voice! Participants will use EVT’s innovative Figures for Voice™ to learn control of the vocal structures that influence voice quality. Each Figure employs exercises that will give you new vocal options for all styles speaking and singing.

Level Two combines the Figures from Level One to produce six voice qualities: Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera, and Belting. Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities™ offers a clear understanding of the voice’s limitless possibilities, along with how to keep it vibrant and healthy. Throughout the day, the new voice skills are practiced in small group sessions. There will also be ample time for questions, discussion, and work on individual repertoire or case studies.

Level One course is a prerequisite for Level Two. Full time student rate is half price with ID.

Open to anyone, who took the Estill Level One course, singers, voice teachers, actors, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with an overview of the evolution of the Estill Voice Model and an overview of this course. We will work us through all the voice qualities, speech, falsetto, sob, twang, belting and opera - by practising individually in small groups and integrating them into singing and different genres of music.

The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

This course is intended for teachers and students of singing and actors.

The Level One course teaches the tools to control vocal instrument. Students will learn EVT’s Figures to use better vocal structures are useful to sing every musical genre or to play every character.
