In this course you will learn to differentiate and control the various vocal structures, or Figures, associated with pitch, range, color, intensity and, most importantly, sustained vocal health. The 6 Estill Voice Qualities -- Speech, Falsetto, Twang, Sob, Opera and Belt -- will also be utilized throughout the weekend so that each new Figure will not only be explored individually, but in the expanded context of each Quality. The result: a blend of part and whole, Figure and Quality, that will send you on your way to vocal mastery!

EVT is applicable to ALL styles of speaking and singing and this course is open to anyone interested in the wonders of the human voice including singers, actors, speech language pathologists and voice teachers. Participants will apply their new skills in group practice sessions as well as in individual coaching sessions. (Be sure to bring music and/or text!) There will also be ample opportunity for questions and discussion.

Open to anyone with an interest in learning about the voice, e.g. singers, voiceteachers, actors, clinical voice professionals etc.  The course begins with an introduction to the Estill Voice Model with Compulsory Figures for Voice, and an overview of the course. We will then work through all the basic Figures in Level One and end up with a short overview of the Six Voice Qualities of Level Two. We will practice together and individually in small groups, integrating new skills into singing and applying them to different genres of music. The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

Please note that if you are welcome to take both the Level One and Level Two courses together, attending September 3-7.

The course will focus on repetition of Level One & Two and analysis of problems & solutions/Pedagogical issues. We will work practically and integrate figures and qualities into music and also have time to focus on individual coaching/training.
