This course is presented by Helga Westmark & Dorte Hyldstrup, two experienced Danish Estill teachers taught and educated by Jo Estill herself during the 90´s.

Open to anyone, who took the EVT Level One Course. It is relevant to all voiceusers, e.g. singers, voiceteachers, actors, choirleaders, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with a short repetition of Compulsory Figures for Voice, and an overview of this course. Then we will work on the 6 Voice Qualities in Level Two, (Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera and Belting). During these 2 days we will practice together and individually in small groups, integrating the qualities in singing and applying them to different genres of music. The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

This cause is taught in English. German translation and a german assistant are available during course.

By learning three of the Estill Voice Training figures or exercises, you can sing more powerfully without strain on your vocal folds. You will apply the information that you learned through the diagrams , videos & exercises to your song or reading at the end of the session. Class size is limited to ensure individual attention. This is a review of Levels 1 & 2 and is open to anyone who has already completed a 5 day Estill Course. It is not for those who are new to Estill. There will be an opportunity for questions and discussion as well as revision of vocal anatomy and voice qualities.

This course is intended for teachers and students of singing and actors.

The Level One course teaches the tools to control vocal instrument. Students will learn EVT’s Figures to use better vocal structures are useful to sing every musical genre or to play every character.

This complete Estill Course covers the Compulsory Figures and Qualities over 5 days.

It is suitable for all voice users, from singers and speakers to speech pathologists – anyone who works with, or uses voice!

Individual attention will be given to ensure all concepts are understood and applied correctly.

Classical, Contemporary and Music Theatre singing styles will be addressed. There will be a masterclass on the final day when problems will be solved using the skills developed during the course.

Level One: Figures for Voice Control

Participants will be given a practical grounding in vocal technique, vocal anatomy and physiology, that will allow them to approach any vocal endeavour with confidence and skill. The Estill Voice Model teaches differentiated voluntary control of specific parts of the vocal mechanism and an understanding of vocal function.

Level Two: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities

Participants wil develop mastery of vocal qualities including Speech, Twang (nasal and clear), Falsetto, Opera and Belting. Applications to the singing and speaking voice will be practised. Hone your troubleshooting skills.

Leading Australian Ear-Nose-Throat Specialist, John Tomich will co-present the Endoscopy Day. Following an introductory talk on Videolaryngoscopic Biofeedback, participants will be given the unique opportunity to be endoscoped and literally see their voice (i.e. larynx) in action whilst performing various vocal tasks, Figures and Voice Qualities.

Description

This Advanced 1 course is only for people who have attended Level One & Two courses in Norway or Sweden. The course will focus on repetition and more advanced exercises of Level One & Two and analysis of problems & solutions/Pedagogical issues. We will mostly work practically and integrate figures and qualities into music and also have time to focus on individual coaching/training.

Beyond images, learn specific vocal techniques for the choral rehearsal using simple, unambiguous anatomical terms

• Vocal “Figures” that work for training voice like compulsory figures do for skaters
• “Anchoring” for focusing the right amount of energy without constriction (a little air can go a long way!)
• Strategies for balancing different register qualities between vocal parts
• Vocal recipes for broadening your range of vocal color for different musical genres
• Healthy exercises for choral students who also sing musical theater, pop, opera or other musical styles
