The Complete Estill Course
Estill Training is craft for singers, like fingering for the pianist.

Practice independent voice motor control. Understand advanced anatomy and how the voice physically and acoustically functions. Control the components that change voice quality through kinesthetic perception and muscle training.

Emphasis on aesthetic freedom and vocal safety across all styles and genres – from rock to opera, jazz to belting!

Level 1 – Compulsory Figures
In Level One, participants will accomplish an advanced understanding of vocal anatomy and the physiology of the larynx. The students will be able to increase their kinesthetic perception and maximize their control over their “reed”-instrument. The scientifically researched figures or muscle training exercises allow the voice user to individually monitor, control and adjust all researched muscular structures involved in sound production and therefore safely produce any style or genre specific voice quality.
Each participant will receive individual feedback and monitoring to ensure that all concepts are understood and applied correctly. From the start, the emphasis will be on singing and speaking, both individually and as a group to reinforce technical ideas and ensure correct training of muscle memory.

Level 2 – Figure Combinations
During Level Two, participants will analyze and develop mastery of 6 archetype vocal qualities including Speech, Falsetto, Twang (nasal and oral), Sob, Opera and Belting. Additionally, contemporary, classical, and music theatre voice qualities will be studied in order to create a better understanding of how the work can be applied on stage, in the studio and in rehearsals. The client will be supplied with a toolbox of muscular skills, anatomically correct vocabulary and the confidence that anyone can train the muscles of their voice in order to achieve any aesthetic goal.
Finally, students will be able to participate in a master class in order to apply the tools learnt in a group/performance environment. Singers may present pieces of their own choosing, ideally with problems to be solved. There is no pre-requisite nor audition for this course.

CMT Corinne Morini will lead you through an Introduction to Estill Voice Training.  There is no prerequisite to attend this workshop.  All are welcome, trained or untrained, beginners to advanced  singers, actors, teachers, and students.  We will explore the guiding principles behind the Estill model and answer your questions concerning what is unique about this model and what makes it healthy and reliable.  We will experience as a group a few of the Figures for Voice Control in anticipation of what you'll discover during a full 5-day Level 1 and 2 Course.  The next 5-day Level 1 and 2 course in Austria is set for Graz,  July 16th-20th 2012, with CCI Gerald Marko. This course is open to anyone, who took the EVT Level One Course. Its relevant to all voiceusers, e.g. singers, voiceteachers, actors, choirleaders, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with a short repetition of Compulsory Figures for Voice, and an overview of this course. Then we will work on the 6 Voice Qualities in Level Two, (Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera and Belting). During these 2 days we will practice together and individually in small groups, integrating the qualities in singing and applying them to different genres of music. The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

If you want to take both Level One and Two in Lommel, May 23 -27. You only pay 700 euro.

The Complete 5 Day Course in the Estill Model presented by one of the UK and Europe’s most experienced and qualified Estill expert. This five day course will comprise Level 1 (12 Compulsory Figures) and Level 2 (6 Voice Qualities) and will also include a short introduction to anatomy & physiology and a vocal health session. The daily schedule will consist of lecture presentations, video research, audio & video examples, as well as teaching and training tips. Participants will divide into small practice groups throughout the day to receive coaching in the Compulsory Figures & Voice Qualities. There will also be an Open Session in the evening which provides participants with an opportunity to sing a song or do a speech and receive expert coaching from one of the Vanguard CCIs.

Level One: Figures for Voice™ teaches the tools of the craft to add strength, clarity and stamina to your voice! Participants will use EVT’s innovative Figures for Voice™ to learn control of the vocal structures that influence voice quality. Each Figure employs exercises that will give you new vocal options for all styles speaking and singing. Level Two combines the Figures from Level One to produce six voice qualities: Speech, Falsetto, Sob, Twang, Opera, and Belting. Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities™ offers a clear understanding of the voice’s limitless possibilities, along with how to keep it vibrant and healthy. Throughout the day, the new voice skills are practiced in small group sessions. There will also be ample time for questions, discussion, and work on individual repertoire or case studies.
