Description
Open to anyone with an interest in learning about the voice, f.ex. singers, voiceteachers, actors, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with an introduction to the Estill Voice Model with Compulsory Figures for Voice, and an overview of this course. We will work us through all the figures in Level One by practising individually in small groups and integrating them into singing and different genres of music.
The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.

Este curso de tres días empieza con una introducción al modelo de la voz de Jo Estill y a su historia y con un taller de anatomía y fisiología. Durante los próximos tres días, se presentarán las figuras obligatorias que componen el sistema. Los asistentes tendrán la posibilidad de practicar en grupos pequeños con ayudantes titulados. Cada día habrá una sesión abierta donde los participantes podrán aplicar el sistema (trabajo) a su propia “performance” sea Pop, Jazz, Teatro Musical, Ópera o la voz hablada.

También se aplicará las figuras del modelo en canto armónico/polifonía

Este curso está abierto a cualquier artista, cualquier persona que usa la voz profesionalmente, médicos y logopedas y cualquier persona que quiere conocer más de su voz y disfrutarla.

This 3 day course starts with an introduction to the model and to Jo Estill and with an anatomy and physiology workshop. Over the next three days, Helen will present the Compulsory Figures and students will have the opportunity to practise in small groups with experienced interns. Each day there will be an open session where participants are able to apply the work to their own performance be it Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Opera or the spoken voice. There will be some special emphasis on using the figures in speech therapy, drawing on Helen’s recent experience at University College London as a postgraduate student of Vocal Pathology. There will also be a chance to practise the model in group singing using harmonic music and chants.

This course is open to all performers and professional voice users, doctors and speech therapists and anyone who wishes to learn more about and have fun with their voice.

Level 1 – Compulsory Figures

Een level two cursus in het Nederlands onder leiding van Alberto ter Doest (CCI) en Marja Reinders (CMT). Hij zal  de laatste inzichten van het wereld sympoiium in Rome meenemen en met de cursisten delen. Een cursus waarin uitgelegd wordt hoe de stem werkt, hoe vanuit uw eigen situatie uw snel uw stem verbeterd, meer onder contrloe krijgt, beter en makkelijker gaat zingen, meer hoogte laagte en luidheid ontwikkelt. Kortom een geweldige kans om beter uw stem te gebruiken en te begrijpen wat er in andere methoden bedoeld wordt. Als researcher, zanger Artistiek Manager MT van Codarts, Conservatorium Rotterdam en hoofdvakdocent zang weet Alberto ter Doest iedereen te helpen om zijn of haar stem met plezier te gebruiken, geassisteerd door Marja Reinders, (Docent Zang Artez Conservatorium Enschede)

In Amsterdam we will organise a wonderful level two course by CCI Alberto ter Doest, Books, Material, Songsheets are included. Every afternoon there is a possibility to sing and work on material with an accompagnist. A course for singers, speech therapists, actors, presenters, choir conductors and profesional and amateur singers.

Este curso de 22 sesiones en el modelo Estill empieza con talleres en anatomía, fisiología y acústica y sigue con la presentación de las Figuras Obligatorias de Control de la Voz descritas por Jo Estill. Se dirige especialmente a esos profesionales de la voz que se especializan en performance aunque está abierto a cualquier persona que quiera entender y disfrutar más de su voz. Los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de practicar las figuras y  aplicarlas a su estilo de actuar sea Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Ópera o la voz hablada. Habrá además la posibilidad de practicar las figuras en grupo con canto en harmonÍa.

This course of 22 sessions in the Estill Voice Model begins with workshops in anatomy, physiology and acoustics and continues by covering Jo Estill’s Compulsory figures for Vocal Control. On this occasion, it is aimed particularly at voice professionals in the performing arena although it is open to all those who wish to learn more about and have fun with their voice.  Students will have the opportunity to put each of the figures into practice and to apply the work to their own performance be it Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Opera or the spoken voice. There will also be a chance to practise the model in group singing using harmonic music and chants.

In deze workshop beschouwen we de 13 Figuren van Level Een en de 6 Kwaliteiten van Level Twee in een vogelvlucht. We maken kennis met de theorie en de praktische mogelijkheden van de bouwstenen van het Estill Voice Training Systeem.

De Verplichte Stem Figuren is een innovatieve methode om stemmen te trainen van alle leeftijden, die gebruikt kunnen worden voor elke willekeurige stijl.
 
De 13 Figuren, waaronder Toonaanzet, Verhemelte Controle, Strottenhoofdstanden en Stembandmassa geven met hun variatiemogelijkheden 37 verschillende opties.
 
Deze zijn gemakkelijk aan te leren en maakt dat zelfs kinderen en mensen die nog nooit gezongen hebben gemakkelijk alle verschillende Figuren en Kwaliteiten kunnen produceren. De basis is, weten wat er fysiologisch en anatomisch gedaan moet worden om de diverse klanken te verkrijgen.
 
Tijdens deze Introductie wordt er ook kort aandacht besteed aan akoestiek en perceptie van de stem. Deze onderdelen dragen bij aan het begrijpen van het gebruik van de stem.
 
De cursus is toegankelijk voor iedereen die meer over de stem wil weten, ongeacht achtergrond; voor zangers, zangdocenten, acteurs, coaches, managers, trainers, sprekers, logopedisten, koordirigenten en koorzangers.

Healthy Belting

Jo Estill’s vocal research has examined the anatomy of the singing voice, and broken it down into 13 elements that influence the vocal quality  and power of the voice. By understanding how to voluntarily  adjust these elements you can combine them to create different voice qualities.

This workshops introduces you to the Estill Voice Figures, or exercises, that are critical in creating the Belt Quality in a healthy, unstrained manner. The morning session dwells mostly on the elements that will free your vocal folds  from strain. In the afternoon we’ll concentrate on the adjustments needed to Belt.

The workshop involves Powerpoint presentations, endoscopic videos, anatomical models and slides. There are application activities and small group practices. There is a chance for individual attention in a master class format at the end of the session.

This is a practical course where you experience creating the six voice qualities associated with Estill Voice Training: speech, falsetto, sob, twang, opera and belt. Discussion focuses on how to mix these qualities safely and how to apply them artistically in different genres. Presentations will be combined with small group practice sessions and master classes. As well as teachers and students of performance, this course will also be of interest to speech and language therapists with voice clients. Level Two is only for those who have already completed Level One.

Wanna learn to Belt, wanna be taught how it works? This is a one day workshop where you will be taught how to learn to belt. What to do and what not to do. The benefits , the dangers and how to build strength, power and quality. ALberto ter Doest is teaching most of the big musical stars in The Netherlands and is a specialist in how to sing a healthy strong Belt voice. In this day you will sing many excersises, really develop your voice and find it's own unique belt sound. we will finish with a great belt song.
