The Essential Estill  Voice Training Course

Level 1 

Participants will be given a practical grounding in vocal technique and vocal anatomy and physiology that will allow them to approach any vocal endeavour with confidence and skill.  The Estill Model teaches voluntary differentiated control of specific parts of the vocal mechanism and an understanding of vocal function.

Each participant will receive individual feedback and monitoring to ensure that all concepts are understood and applied correctly. 

The emphasis from the start will be on singing and speaking individually and as a group to reinforce technical ideas. Participants will learn techniques that will set them up for a career of safe voice work.

Level 2

Participants will develop mastery of vocal qualities including Speech, Twang (nasal and clear), Falsetto, Opera and Belting.  Applications to the singing  voice will be practised.  Hone your trouble shooting skills.

Each participant will receive individual feedback and monitoring to ensure that all concepts are understood and applied correctly.  The emphasis from the start will be on voicing individually and as a group to reinforce technical ideas.

Classical, Contemporary and Music Theatre singing styles will be studied.  Tuition will be via masterclasses, small group lessons and ensemble.

Este curso de tres días empieza con una introducción al modelo de la voz de Jo Estill y a su historia y con un taller de anatomía y fisiología. Durante los próximos tres días, se presentarán las figuras obligatorias que componen el sistema. Los asistentes tendrán la posibilidad de practicar en grupos pequeños con ayudantes titulados. Cada día habrá una sesión abierta donde los participantes podrán aplicar el sistema (trabajo) a su propia “performance” sea Pop, Jazz, Teatro Musical, Ópera o la voz hablada.

También se aplicará las figuras del modelo en canto armónico/polifonía

Este curso está abierto a cualquier artista, cualquier persona que usa la voz profesionalmente, médicos y logopedas y cualquier persona que quiere conocer más de su voz y disfrutarla.

This 3 day course starts with an introduction to the model and to Jo Estill and with an anatomy and physiology workshop. Over the next three days, Helen will present the Compulsory Figures and students will have the opportunity to practise in small groups with experienced interns. Each day there will be an open session where participants are able to apply the work to their own performance be it Pop, Jazz, Music Theatre, Opera or the spoken voice. There will be some special emphasis on using the figures in speech therapy, drawing on Helen’s recent experience at University College London as a postgraduate student of Vocal Pathology. There will also be a chance to practise the model in group singing using harmonic music and chants.

This course is open to all performers and professional voice users, doctors and speech therapists and anyone who wishes to learn more about and have fun with their voice.

This course is for anyone who would like to improve their singing or speaking voice—singers, actors, vocal coaches, drama instructors, Speech-Language Pathologists and other vocal health professionals. Level One: Figures for Voice™ teaches the tools of the craft to add strength, clarity and stamina to your voice! Participants will use EVT’s innovative Figures for Voice™ to learn control of the vocal structures that influence voice quality. Each Figure employs exercises that will give you new vocal options for all styles speaking and singing.  Throughout the day, the new voice skills are practiced in small group sessions. There will also be ample time for questions, discussion, and work on individual repertoire or case studies.

Level One: Figures for Voice Control

Level Two: Figure Combinations for Six Voice Qualities

Participants wil develop mastery of vocal qualities including Speech, Twang (nasal and clear), Falsetto, Opera and Belting. Applications to the singing and speaking voice will be practised. Hone your troubleshooting skills.

Leading Australian Ear-Nose-Throat Specialist, John Tomich will co-present the Endoscopy Day. Following an introductory talk on Videolaryngoscopic Biofeedback, participants will be given the unique opportunity to be endoscoped and literally see their voice (i.e. larynx) in action whilst performing various vocal tasks, Figures and Voice Qualities.

This course is presented by Helga Westmark & Dorte Hyldstrup, who were two of the first Certified Course Instructors in Europe – so-called Vanguards. Description

Open to anyone with an interest in learning about the voice, for example, singers, voice teachers, actors, clinical voice professionals etc. The course begins with an introduction to the Estill Voice Model with Figures for Voice, and an overview of this course. We will then work through all the figures in Level One by practising individually in small groups and integrating them into singing and different genres of music.

The days will alternate between classroom presentations, practice sessions in small groups and open sessions.
